Betel Leaf Vine, Piper betle
History / Habitat and Distribution: Endemic to SouthEast Asia, the betel / piper betle vine belongs to the Piperaceae family along with black pepper and kava.
Description: It has glossy, heart-shaped leaves and needs to be grown on a stake or trellis. It prefers moist soil in a partially sunlit location. Betel Leaf is grown in Asia for its stimulant properties.
Cultivation: The Betel Leaf is a shade loving subtropical plant that needs a compatible tree or a long pole for support. It’s an evergreen perennial with glossy heart-shaped leaves that requires well-drained, fertile and moist soil.
Comments: It’s primarily grown for its stimulant properties. In India & Sri Lanka a sheaf of betel leaves is traditionally offered as a mark of respect and auspicious beginnings. The primary use of betel leaf is as a wrapper for the chewing of areca nut or tobacco, where it is mainly used to add flavour. It may also be used in cooking, usually raw, for its peppery taste.

- In most cases your plants will benefit from providing an environment of enhanced humidity upon arrival until root function has normalized.
- All "Fresh & Clean" seeds are from a proven viable source. Germination is not guaranteed due to the use of various individual germination techniques. Typical germination rates provided on request.
- Buyer assumes risks due to state agricultural regulations and bare root shipping.
- Return policy: If for any reason your order is incorrect or arrives in poor condition due to negligence on our part, we will gladly refund the purchase price or send a replacement. To be eligible, buyers must please send a notification within ( 1 ) day of arrival describing the issue(s) accompanied by photos of the un-altered order in its original packing material.
