Description

Calliandra haematocephala Pink Powder Puff is an evergreen shrub or small tree. It typically grows 10-15’ tall in its native habitat but can be easily maintained as a small shrub or hedge at 5 - 6 feet with pruning.

Cultivation & Culture

Calliandra haematocephala Pink Powder Puff is an extremely versatile plant excelling as informal hedge, large accent, single yard specimen, backdrop for smaller plants, deck or patio container specimen or a small ornamental tree. It blooms primarily in fall and winter, but sporadic additional bloom may occur throughout the rest of the year. This tree is very adaptable to a wide range of sunlight, soil, and moisture. They like full to part sun, though they'll do fine in partial shade but won't flower as much. Powderpuff is drought tolerant once it's established. Hearty to zone 9 or above. If you're growing a row of these shrubs as a hedge, place them 4 to 6 feet apart. No serious insect or disease problems. An easy, carefree showstopper with stunning powderpuff blooms!
