Dwarf Pomegranate, Punica granatum, var. Nana

Native to southern Europe and northern India and naturalized over time around the Mediterranean.

Punica granatum var. nana is a dwarf variety of pomegranate planted as an ornamental in gardens and containers. It can reach 3 feet tall by 3 feet wide and is often used as a bonsai specimen tree. The small edible fruits are showy and delicious.

Dwarf pomegranate trees are very low maintenance, drought tolerant, self-pollinating, thrive in a wide variety of conditions, and are not susceptible to any health problems. They produce brilliant little red flowers and fruits year round in warmer climates. They prefer full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Dwarf Pomegranate is hardy to zones 7-11.

As the name suggests, dwarf pomegranate trees stay relatively small, making them suitable for small gardens, balconies, or even indoor spaces. They're perfect if you have limited space but still want to enjoy fresh fruit.
