Massive Fiji / Samoan Dwarf Coconut
This massive Fiji / Samoan Dwarf coconut will grow quickly to produce a prolific amount of massive coconuts at a very young age while remaining within easy reach. The typical “tall” coconut palm variety will grow to 80 feet tall while these “dwarf” varieties will top out at around 30 feet.
Few plants on Earth can claim to have assisted mankind more during its early development. Cocos nucifera has been cultivated and utilized for so long in virtually every tropical location throughout the world, that its true place of origin is somewhat uncertain. The most widely accepted location is southern Asia east to the islands of the central Pacific Ocean. It was introduced to the west coast of northern South America from the Philippines about 2,250 years ago by Austronesian people.
The Dwarf Fiji / Samoan Coconut has the best disease ( lethal yellowing etc.) resistance & cold tolerance you can get, far better than the Jamaican Tall. It has a very “full” tropical and ornamental canopy. Healthy and vigorous, ready for planting outdoors in sub-tropical or warmer climates. The ambitious grower can keep and grow these coconut plants in a container anywhere with controlled temperature, and humidity. This coconut does very well in a container but in colder climates it must be moved to a protected location to avoid temperatures approaching freezing and or low humidity.
This beautiful Fiji / Samoan Dwarf, most ornamental of all coconut varities, has for years consistently produced the most massive and delicious coconuts we have ever known.
