‘Oro Negro’ Avocado Tree Professionally Grafted

History: The ‘Oro Negro’ or ‘Black Gold’  Avocado is a Guatemalan / Mexican hybrid discovered in South Florida in the late 80’s.

Description: A vigorous perennial, this cross pollinating tree (considered a self pollinator in Florida) grows up to 30 ft in height and produces glossy, black skinned fruit that can weigh as much as 2 pounds when ripe. Recognized as one of the creamiest of the black skinned avocados, this highly nutritious, rich and buttery delicious variety has become a favorite nationwide. Fruit ripens November thru January.

Comments: Can be kept small and will fruit in a container. Handles temperature dips into the mid 20’s F. Demands well-draining soil and requires full sun to flourish. Prefers infrequent, deep root watering. Root rot can easily occur in trees kept wet. Grafted trees will start producing fruit in just 1-2 years.
