Pseudophoenix sargentii var. navassana Palm Tree
Pseudophoenix sargentii var. navassana, originates from Navassa Island (Coastal Haiti).
Solitary, feather-leafed, crownshaft palm. Somewhat tapering trunk can be 12 inches thick. Leaves are grayish green. Height to 25 feet with a 7-9 foot spread.
Prefers alkaline to neutral well drained soils and full sun. Growth rate is slow. Can handle brief cold dips to the high 20s. Has excellent salt tolerance.
Overall, the Pseudophoenix sargentii var. navassana is prized for its rarity, beauty, and resilience, making it a highly desirable palm species for both conservation and landscaping purposes. With a slender trunk that is typically gray in color and topped with a crown of gracefully arching fronds, it adds a tropical elegance to landscapes.
